Who can use Link?

  • Elderly and disabled people living locally who are unable to use public transport and have no one else they can call on
  • People who need help to get out and about
  • Anyone who has difficulty getting to appointments, or to go shopping
  • Those in areas with poor transport links 
  • People with a disability

Link can help with...

TRANSPORT TO:

  • Doctors and opticians
  • Hospital or dental appointments
  • Visit friends and relatives who are in hospital or housebound

SHOPPING:

  • Taking you to the shops in Westbury
  • Doing your shopping for you if you can't manage it.

PRACTICAL TASKS (as long as a volunteer is available):

  • Changing library books
  • Collecting a prescription
  • Small household tasks (eg changing a lightbulb)

Your call will be answered by a coordinator who will take details of your request, then contact a volunteer to help you; they will then phone you back to confirm the arrangement.

Please tell the coordinator if you have any special needs - for example if you use a walking frame or wheelchair, or want a companion to come with you; and if possible give us some idea of how long your appointment will take.

 

 

Please give at least 3 working days' notice if you can!

 

but you can book as soon as you receive notification of an appointment.
