Westbury and District Link Scheme
Westbury and District Link Scheme

Welcome to the

Westbury & District Link Scheme

The Link service is for elderly or disabled people living locally who are unable to use public transport and have no one else to call on.

Westbury & District Link Scheme supports clients living in the following areas:

Westbury     Hawkeridge    Heywood

Dilton Marsh    Chapmanslade    Yarnbrook

Westbury Link offers their services to medical and social facilities between Bath and Salisbury, including Chippenham and Devizes.

Unfortunately we are unable to take clients to Bristol or Swindon, due to volunteer and time constraints.

“Estimates suggest that 800,000 people in England are chronically lonely. Being lonely is as bad for someone’s health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day and is as big a health risk as obesity.”

(The King’s Fund)

A representative from Linden Homes and Bovis Homes with Link Chairman, Paul Howard, and several of Link drivers, recording their generous donation to Westbury Link

(Sep 23).

From the Chairman -

I'm delighted that we were awarded a Town of Westbury's Civic Award expressing the Council's appreciation of our outstanding service to the community of Westbury (see photo) (Oct 22).

You should all be very proud of your contribution.

Do you have what it takes to be a good neighbour?

We need more volunteers........

to take on regular tasks such as taking people for

doctors’ or hospital appointments, or to help with weekly shopping.

If you don’t drive but are able to use a computer,

we also need volunteers to act as telephone coordinators -

people who answer clients’ calls and organise help.

Training and ongoing support is given.

All we ask is for some of your time - as little or as much

as you feel you can give.

We pay out-of-pocket expenses and

a mileage allowance to cover driving costs.

Please contact Link on 01373 859669 and speak to the coordinator

on duty, to discuss how YOU can be a good neighbour.

Volunteering: it’s good for you...and for our community
